I stayed away from this bread because I thought it would taste like strong rye bread. Was I wrong! This bread tastes like something my mother would have made. It makes amazing toast. The sunflower seeds get crunchy. And the texture is so soft. Try it...I bet you'll like it.
The rye flavor of this bread is very delicate, which serves as the ideal backdrop for the sunflower, sesame, and flax seeds. We had bread like this available when we lived in Germany, but I've never found the same flavor anywhere before in the US. This is not Panera or Publix bread; it's nearly a crime to compare them! You only get bread this level of quality when someone produces loaves in small batches. So far, we've toasted slices to eat with eggs, but it would hold up well to any sandwich fixings.
